Michigan History

Michigan History is a semester long course in which students explore the history, culture, and current issues facing the 26th state from it's inception to today.  Specifically, they will study geographic formation of the state and its resources, early Native American cultural, political and military affairs, issues of statehood, Michigan's relationship to the larger United States progress, business and industry unique to the state and region, important persons and current issues of concern.  Through this examination of their home, students should develop a deeper appreciation for their own past and present, as well as be able to make thoughtful contributions to our society as well-informed citizens of the 21st century.
