With comprehensive, award-winning programs in visual
art, drama, and music, Plymouth-Canton Community Schools (P-CCS)
Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) programs are among the finest in
southeastern Michigan. Students in our district have endless
opportunities for participation in the arts and enjoy quality
facilities, instruction of the highest caliber, and a wealth of
community support.
The district is committed to providing a well-rounded education, one
which educates the "whole" child. The skills and ideas that are taught through arts
education - creativity, self-expression, collaboration, imagination,
cultural identity, emotion, communication, healthy relationships, to name
a few - are crucial in the development of all students. Perhaps no other
discipline embraces these human elements of education as thoroughly as the
arts. Additionally, a significant body of
research has shown that people with a strong arts background are
stronger academically, have
healthier social development, are better prepared for the ever-changing
global economy, and enjoy a higher quality of life than those who do not.
