PARTNERSHIPS
IN PLYMOUTH AND CANTON
The Plymouth
Community Arts Council (PCAC) has provided curricular support for
P-CCS students and teachers since 1969. Their mission is to "develop
and promote the appreciation and accessibility of the arts to everyone in
the greater community and in doing so, encourage and foster artistic
excellence." The popular Art Volunteer Program provides our
elementary students with exposure to classical and modern art, sculpture,
and different world cultures, as well as valuable curricular support for
our art teachers.
The Plymouth-Canton
Symphony Society (PCSS) encompasses the Plymouth Symphony and
Orchestra Canton. One of the highlights of our students' musical
development is the CLASSical Outreach program provides students with
the opportunity to get "up close and personal" with professional
musicians through live instrument demonstrations and chamber performances.
The program culminates in 4th grade with the "Koncert For Kids",
a performance of the full orchestra in our own Gloria Logan Auditorium.
The Village
Theater at Cherry Hill, maintained through Canton Leisure Services, is
one of the gems of the Plymouth-Canton arts community, and a professional
facility in every sense of the word. The theater staff works
collaboratively with the district to provide arts programming that
supports the P-CCS arts curriculum, often providing resources for field
trips and other outreach activities.
