COMPREHENSIVE
OFFERINGS FOR ALL STUDENTS
Upon entering high school,
students will have the opportunity to enroll in one of our many arts
classes which satisfy the State of Michigan Visual, Performing, and
Applied Arts graduation requirement.
The Plymouth-Canton
Educational Park offers students choosing visual
art classes a vast array of 2-D and 3-D art classes, from
beginning level courses to Advanced Placement Art. The elements and
principles of design are taught in the Introduction to Art course, which
is a pre-requisite for all other visual art offerings. Both exploratory
and career-minded artists will find no shortage of intriguing and
challenging opportunities for self-expression in this area.
P-CEP students are also
offered a comprehensive listing of opportunities in music.
Graded ensemble offerings in band, choir, and orchestra, as well as
courses in music theory, guitar, and piano provided opportunities for
public performance and personal study. Students electing our school
ensembles are able to participate in solo and ensemble and choral, band,
and orchestra festivals sponsored by the Michigan School Band and
Orchestra Association (MSBOA) and the Michigan School Vocal Music
Association (MSVMA). Additionally, extra-curricular opportunities abound,
including our nationally recognized P-CEP Marching Band, school musical
pit orchestra, winter guard, pep band, and jazz band, and other
small vocal and instrumental ensembles.
In addition to strong
programs in art and music, P-CEP offers two comprehensive drama
programs. Curricular offerings in drama and speech, as well as our two
extra-curricular drama programs - Park Players, housed in Salem HS and
performing in the Gloria Logan Auditorium, and Second Stage Players,
housed in Canton HS and performing in the Allen DuBois Little Theater -
are open to all P-CEP students.
